Add Baby Buttons to your Home Screen

Parent settings

Baby play is paused while this is open. Close it to go back to the buttons.

Lock the phone too

This board ignores swipes and pinches, but only the phone itself can block the swipe from the top edge (notifications) and the home gesture. On iPhone that is Guided Access; it blocks all of them until you unlock.

That button runs a Shortcut named "Baby Lock". Create it once (about a minute) and the button works from then on:

  1. Settings → Accessibility → Guided Access → on. Tap Passcode Settings and set a passcode (turn on Face ID too, it's faster).
  2. Open the Shortcuts app → + → name it Baby Lock. Add the action Open App and pick Baby Buttons (if it isn't listed, use Open URLs with baby-buttons.pages.dev instead). Then add the action Start Guided Access. Done.
  3. Optional: in the shortcut's share menu choose Add to Home Screen, so one icon opens the app and locks it in a single tap.

To get out: triple-click the side button, then Face ID or your passcode. Nothing else exits Guided Access, which is exactly what you want while the baby has the phone.

Android: Settings → Security → App pinning → on. Open Recents, tap the app icon, choose Pin. Unpin by holding Back and Recents together.

Tip: add this page to your Home Screen (Share → Add to Home Screen) so it opens full screen with no browser bar and nothing to pull down. Guided Access works on that icon.

How to unlock next time

Hold the two 🔒 pads in opposite corners at the same time for two seconds. The yellow border fills in, then this panel opens.
